Reading “The Graveyard Book” by Neil Gaiman. It’s amazing. It makes me want to read and see “Coraline” too.

marco: (via Peter W. Knox) Beyond the direct job losses, I’m not sure that this would necessarily be a bad thing. The mailbox for our apartment is nearly full every day. There’s a trash can helpfully placed in the alcove with everyone’s mailboxes. Every day, I open the mailbox door and shovel all of the crap into the trash can except the 0-2 legitimate envelopes. And, every day, the trash can...

We’re having dinner at The Inn At Little Washington on Saturday. From the website: The Inn was the first establishment in the Mobil Travel Guide’s history ever to receive 5 stars for its restaurant and 5 stars for its accommodation.  The Inn was the first establishment ever to receive AAA’s highest accolade, the 5 Diamond Award, for both food and accommodation.  The Inn at Little Washington,...

Dressed to Kill
Somehow, we had never seen Brian de Palma’s 1980 thriller Dressed to Kill. We watched it this weekend. My thoughts (which you shouldn’t read if you haven’t seen the film): Angie Dickinson was stunning and gave a quiet, powerful portrayal of a desperate housewife decades before there was a Wisteria Lane. She brought a lot to what would otherwise have been a small role. And,...

Finally Watched the Lost Premiere
The Lost season premiere was excellent. However, if I were actually on the island, I would likely be unable to restrain myself from punching Daniel Faraday in the face. He’s like nails on a chalkboard. I hope that Sawyer moves beyond slapping him next week. Also, who puts knives in the dishwasher with the blades facing up? I guess this is a lesson from The Sayid Jarrah School of Home...

Human/Machine Interaction vs. User Experience →
marco: The Kindle has an overall quite wonderful user experience, even though the first generation’s human/machine interaction was a disaster. The iPhone/iPod Touch, on the other hand, offers exceptional human/machine interaction—revolutionary, in fact—but that interaction is coupled with a user experience that varies from good to almost hostile.
