A Rough Day
We got back from New York City last night after an lovely weekend there. While walking across our deck to the back door, we though we smelled something rotten. But, we didn’t investigate since we were a bit tired. I assumed a bird or a squirrel had died somewhere nearby. Today, as we were walking out of our back door to go to lunch, the rotten smell on the deck seemed much stronger. So, I...

Thoughts on Lost
It’s weird to admit, but I have been a bit mopey today and I think the end of Lost is the reason. After 121 episodes over six years with these characters, I will miss them. Lost has left me with a sense of, well, loss. (The severe lack of sleep caused by the finale may also be affecting my mood.) I have read the criticisms from people who think the ending was too religious, too treacly, or...

Kindle for Android →
John Gruber: Unlike the iPhone Kindle app, it has a built-in store rather than kicking you out to the web browser to buy books. (Which limitation of the iPhone version, I believe, is a byproduct of Apple’s App Store rules.) That would certainly explain the glaring omission of in-app Kindle purchases on iPhone and iPad. But, I don’t get why the Apple rules wouldn’t allow this. Because...

Random Gadget Thoughts
I’m not usually one to do “random thought” posts, but I have a few that probably aren’t full-post worthy. So, here goes. I’ve blogged before about moving from reading Kindle books on my Kinde 2 to reading Kindle books on my iPad. But, that is slowly reversing back to the Kindle 2. This is party because some magazines, like The Economist, aren’t available in...

Every time I see updates released for office-related applications (Microsoft Office, iWork, Apple’s iPad office apps, etc.), I always have the same thought: Thank God I’m not in a job where I have to use office applications.
