On Wednesday, the company is answering the call, offering biking routes in 150 American cities in Google Maps. Google plans to unveil the service during the National Bike Summit in Washington. The event will be followed by a group ride at the South by Southwest festival in Austin, Tex.

I just checked the route from my house to office and yeah, I’d never go that way. It seems purely based on which streets...
The route it gives me to work involves the biggest hill in DC (Porter Street, during which I actually have to dismount)...
Sweet. I tried it with my trusty old route to Mount Vernon, and it did pretty well.
